Tips for the Measurement of Shapes
You can all but count on a few questions about the measurement of shapes on the GED Math Test. If you have that basic skill down, that's points toward the 145 score you need! A few tips:
The formulas are provided so you really are being tested on your ability to think about shapes
The questions will likely include both a picture and text
Sometimes the length of a shape is not shown in the picture but instead mentioned in the text
In almost every case, you will be able to use the calculator for these questions
Questions about how much paint to cover a wall, carpet to cover a floor, etc. are usually referring to area
Questions about crown molding, length of a fence, etc. are usually referring to perimeter
Questions about cubic measurements such as how much water in a pool, product in a rail car, etc. are usually referring to volume
